Some of the cast chose not to watch the original series, The Walking Dead because they were afraid it would affect their performances. “I was going to really power through it when I heard about the audition, but then I was sort of advised not to because my character would not necessarily know what the apocalypse looks like” said Kim Dickens (Madison).
Alycia Debnam-Carey (Alicia) admitted, “I had to stop watching the original because it was starting to inform things that I was doing on set. I was starting to think, ‘But I wouldn’t know that.’ I have to be a little bit more in the dark. You can’t really undo that damage.”
