Sergeant Melvin Allen was a recurring character in the first season. He is portrayed by Toby Levins.
Pre-Apocalypse[]
Nothing is known about Melvin before the apocalypse, except that he served at the California Army National Guard.
Post-Apocalypse[]
Season 1[]
“Cobalt”[]
Sgt. Allen is one of the soldiers based at the medical facility set up by the National Guard. In the holding cells, the soldiers come and check everyone's temperature. Strand's is normal while Nick, in the throes of heroin withdrawal, shows a fever. They start to take him but Strand bribes Allen, with diamond cufflinks to leave Nick there. Strand offers him one of the cufflinks, however Allen wants both in order for Nick to stay.
“The Good Man”[]
During the fallout of the National Guard facility, overrun by the infected, Melvin and another soldier are attacked by an infected woman. It is unknown how the first soldier died, however when Victor Strand and Nicholas Clark are searching the facility, Strand spots Melvin being eaten by an infected.
Melvin pleas for a mercy kill to Strand.
He grabs a flashlight to see that Melvin is still alive, however unable to move as he has been bitten on the neck and is currently having his leg eaten. Strand walks closer to Melvin, reaches in his pocket and grabs the cuff links that he has sold to Melvin for the price of Nick. Melvin pleas for Strand to mercy kill him, however Strand tells Allen that he is already on his way. More infected storm into the room and Strand and Nicholas leave.
