Valery Stephanovich Vashchenko is a character in AMC's Fear the Walking Dead. He is a cosmonaut who is trapped in space after the planet succumbed to infection.
Pre-Apocalypse[]
Nothing is known about Valery Stepanovich Vashchenko other than he was born in Russia and became a cosmonaut. Prior to the outbreak he was posted to the International Space Station.
Post-Apocalypse[]
"Children of Wrath"[]
Valery is a survivor of the outbreak who watched from space as the outbreak went global, with the last of the lights going out three days before his scheduled reentry.
When Victor Strand desperately tries to contact someone on The Abigail, Valery answers. He explains that he is a cosmonaut who was trapped in space when the outbreak started. He then explains that the infection is global and it's seems that humanity will die soon including him as there is no way safe way for him to land. Victor and Valery have a brief conversation regarding famous last words. Valery gives Victor some words of encouragement before the radio signal gives out.
Given the gap between Season 3 and Season 4 it can be assumed that Valery most likely died in space.
