Obsessed with the little details

I'm mainly a fanfic author, but I love the little details and I've seen Seasons 1-3 dozens of times. My favorites were Troy, Nick, Alicia, and Victor. I did not continue watching after Season 3's finale, in large part because I wish they hadn't scrapped the original plot outline.

As with any fictional universe, I am obsessed with the details, rules, and trivia.

Cleanup

Hey guys.

Recently, I have began going over older pages in order to cleanup the wiki. You may have noticed that I have added categories or infoboxes to some older pages (mainly those relating to Season One or early Season Two).

There is one page that will require intensive going over however, and it is actually the merger of the National Guard page into the U.S. Military page. Personally, I think it is a waste having two pages detailing pretty much the same thing. I have already begun the process, and the only thing I am asking of you guys is: Would you mind ducking in and giving the U.S. Military page a check up? There is bound to be things that I am missing/overlooking/repeating.

Thanks in advance.

Marcus

If you have time projects

Hey guys. First of all, let me thank you for the hard work you are putting into the wiki. It is much appreciated.

On a personal note, I recently started re-watching Fear from the beginning, so you nay see that some of the character/location pages from earlier seasons are been updated in some way.

Now, onto the main point of the blog. I have been going over some of the older pages. I have a list of them that need updating/checking out in some way. I wanted to ask, if you have time, would any contributor mind helping out? Will list them below and if you are willing to help, just let me know which page you are willing to take a look at.

  • The United States of America
  • Mexico
  • Emergency Services
  • Documenting the Fall
  • Annie's Group

Zombie Stories

Hey guys.

Alright, so I know that The Walking Dead Wikia has a place whre people can share their original zombie themed fiction. Now, I dont want to start that here, but I am in the middle of writing a story and I was wondering would you mind taking a loot at my character list?

James Regan—kind hearted and intelligent. At times, over confident and cocky, but anything he does is with the best intentions. Not afraid to get his hands dirty- either working on the farm or by protecting those he cares about. Believes his family is dead and blames himself, even though he has no proof of this. He thinks that if he kept a better hold of his younger brothers’ hands they would be alive. At times, reactionary to threats, but will plan ahead where possib…

Madison Clark- Strong Female character or annoyance?

Dont hate on me, but just got done with the episodes I have recorded on Season 2 of Fear The Walking Dead.

I was wondering- does anyone else dislike Madison Clark? The more of the show I watch, the more I dislike her for numerous reasons.

1) When it comes to her children, she alternates between overprotective mother lion who treats them like they were toddlers to hardly paying any attention to them and what they are doing. At times, she reminds me of Lori Grimes and her "Where's Carl?" moments. And that last scene with Nick walking into the herd-- the one time he needed her to mother him and she lets him walk away. Add into the mix that in season one she was willing to accept torture in her dead neighbours basement in order to get Nick back-…

Victor Strand!!

Oh my, it's official Victor Strand is going to pick up someone in San Diego and dump everyone else.

Ok, so I made all of that up but... He's up to something alright.

When Madison Clark climbed the steps to the Upper Deck on The Abigail she heard voices - and Strand had a satellite phone in his pocket!!

And... In the promo for 202 "We All Fall Down" Strand says (at 0.19, into said sat phone) "I'm coming."

Who is he talking to? Why is it a secret? Could it be "Abigail", the person the boat's named after?

Strand is so up to something!

Season 2: Monster

And we're off!

We are indeed, and with all the subtlety of a good solid kick in the face as our group fight zombies no the beach before they desert a burning and bombed out LA.

It starts with Strand already on the boat and Travis, Maddie and Chris having to fight off zombies on the beach as they wait to be picked up.

Strand's boat is good, completely convincing (to my eyes at least) and incredibly luxurious. It looks as if they could point the pointy end east and be in Hawaii in a few weeks. It's certainly a long way from Georgia, with its dining table, wine glasses and bedrooms to die for.

Strand has come into his own and makes it clear who the boat belongs to - complete with veiled threats about kicking off anyone who doesn't do as they're t…

Getting Ready For Season 2

Less than six weeks to go, so I've been "spring cleaning", starting to collect images, videos, making sure that things are in place for April 10th.

Things are looking good, I like the new trailers and I see the credits on IMDB include a director of underwater photography :) As well as some interesting new cast members.

Two of them we know already, Jake and Charlie from Fear the Walking Dead: Flight 462 are both in Season 2 Episode 3, or so it seems at the moment. Pretty much anything about Season 2 could be wildly wrong at this point, remember that Robert Kirkman loves to wind people up about storylines etc - so it could all be an elaborate lie.

(Season 2's probably set in Low Earth Orbit or something, with Christopher Manawa having recommissi…

Strand?

If you aren't suspicious as heck of Colman Domingo's character Strand then you need to take a long, hard look at yourself in the mirror.

He's appeared out of nowhere during the second half of Season 1, befriended the recovering drug addict, Nick Clark, and escorted a bunch of complete strangers to his multi-million dollar mansion. Oh, and he has a yacht named Abigail which he has offered up as an escape route. As we said, suspicious...

Anyway, with Strand now confirmed as a series regular for Season 2, we're sure to learn a lot more about what makes him tick. Does he know something the rest of the troupe doesn't? Why has he been so secretive about his past? And what does he see in Nick?

The first time we saw Strand, he was giving away a swank…

Fear the Walking Dead: Flight 462

Fear the Walking Dead: Flight 462 starts during the Season 1 finale of Fear and follows a group of airplane passengers right at the start of the outbreak. It will be 16, very short, episodes long and deals with the threat posed by an infected passenger on an airliner, one of the characters in 462 will join the second season cast of Fear.

Each installment will be a little less than a minute in length, releasing each Sunday for the duration of Season 6 TWD. The debut episode will then air as a promo during The Walking Dead’s season 6 premiere on Oct. 11. 462 is pretty much a family affair and is written by Lauren Signorino and Mike Zunic and directed by the Fear director of photography Michael McDonough. It’s produced by Dave Erickson and David Wiene…

Meet David Wiener - Writer of "Cobalt"

David Weiner is a writer and co-executive producer on AMC's Fear the Walking Dead.

His work in television includes ABC’s Last Resort, AMC’s The Killing and the STARZ series Flesh and Bone.

David wrote the screenplay for Hisako Matsui’s film, Leonie, which starred Emily Mortimer. He wrote the screenplay for the Warner Brothers’ film Sleeper with his writing partner, Shawn Ryan. They are currently working on a new feature film for DreamWorks SKG.

David Wiener was kind enough to email us a quote about the episode of Fear he's written: Episode 5 of Season 1 "Cobalt" which airs on 27 Sep 2015.

Meaghan Oppenheimer - Ep 3 Writer

Meet Meaghan Oppenheimer, she's the writer for this week's episode of Fear, "Not Fade Away". She started out as an actor, so she's not exactly your typical Fear writer. (typical would be, and no offence meant Dave, Dave Erickson, Middle Aged, White, Male)

Meaghan's "lips are sealed" about Sunday's episode but she did tell us that she was hired by showrunner Dave Erickson who'd gotten hold one of her scripts ("The Remains") and then invited her in for interview.

"The Remains" made it onto something called The Black List at joint 6th place in 2013.

The Black List describes itself as a "most liked list" and is made up from the suggestions of over 250 film execs. To get on the list your script has to be written in that year, not started filming by th…

New Episode "Not Fade Away" - Sunday!

This first season is going by very quickly, the end of "The Dog" marked the 1/2 way point for goodness sake.

It also marked a real step up in terms of the drama and action. More zombies than we've seen before; but still the majority of people around are alive and not Infected. I get the feeling that's not going to continue.

The trailers for "Not Fade Away" look intense, Madison out on her own walking through what looks like a battlefield and the official synoposis "Madison and Travis see different sides of the National Guard's occupation in their neighborhood; the family tries to adapt to the new world." does more than just hint at a disagreement between Madison and Travis - and about time, I'm pretty sick of him putting a stop to every good …

Not Long 'til Episode 3: The Dog

I'm so looking forward to this!!

"The Dog" airs on Sunday and after having a week off for Labor Day AMC seem to have gone a bit mad in the Trailer department, bless 'em...

It all looks brilliant, basically. The first video in the gallery above features the evil looking , my favourite image from the season so far.

I wonder if anyone's going to tell Alicia that the dead are refusing to stay that way? Not an easy conversation I'm sure, but it's gotta happen. Oh, and there's the whole "Problem with Matt being undead" thing as well. Hmmm

I'm betting that the title of this episode "The Dog" refers to the Jack London story To Build A Fire (a very bleak winter's tale) which was the story Travis was talking about in the lesson he was giving in "Pilot". …

Fear at 40,000 Feet (or something like that)

AMC is developing a standalone special set in the shared world of Fear The Walking Dead and The Walking Dead. The half-hour special / prequel will follow "a group of passengers facing a walker attack on an airline while in flight. One character who survives that encounter will then join the cast of Fear the Walking Dead in season 2."

The special takes place about the same time as Season 1 of Fear and will premiere online. It will also be shown on TV in separate segments during the ad breaks of The Walking Dead Season 6.

Not many details yet on the future Fear character, when exactly the special will air, we do know that showrunner Dave Erickson and co-executive producer (and writer) David Weiner will be part of the producing team for the special.

Review of "Pilot"

So we're off and running then, finally. What's been arguably the most anticipated TV series of the summer has now premiered, to a predictable chorus of "Brilliant", "Wow!" and "Boringly Slow", "What? No herds of walkers?" on Twitter etc. The "Wow"s are outnumbering the"Slow"s about 2.5 to 1 at the moment I reckon.

I won't give away plot details (for the two people on the planet who haven't already seen it) but I will say that I thoroughly enjoyed it. I wasn't alone either, oh there were a fair few people who were disappointed not to see a herd of zombies leaving the school and Cliff Curtis cutting them to pieces with a samurai sword whilst sporting a dreadlocks wig.

Now don't get me wrong, it didn't start slowly, the first scene is more than …

2 days!!!

Only two days to go now, and I don't know whether to feel excited or a bit... flat, that AMC released the first three minutes of the pilot yesterday.

My first thought was "oh..., we'll have seen all the action before it airs then", and I suspect there's some truth in that with the much vaunted slow burn (I'm so pleased that people aren't using that phrase as much now, I can't believe I just did myself) there's probably not going to be much zombie section in the pilot.

Having said that though? It looks gorgeous. Director Adam Davidson and his Scots director of photography have clearly both done this before and the colours and light in that three minutes are to drool over.

There's also some implied plot and character background stuff in those…

4 Days, That's Only 3 Sleeps!!

4 Days....

Fans sniffed out the filming locations... and showed up! Although the producers did everything they could to keep their shoots and locations a secret, they could not outwit the most hardcore "Walking Dead's" fans during the LA location shoots. “They were waiting for us when we stopped filming,” Dickens recalls. “I don’t know how they found us, but they did.”

If the fan fervor around the show is already this high, we can't imagine what it'll be like after the show premieres!

5 Days, Only 5 Days...

Serious Walker Withdrawal symptoms now.

Cliff Curtis had to overcome his fear of the horror genre to take the role, but he didn't want to turn down the opportunity to play a true hero. “[Travis] is a good man. He’s thoughtful. He’s kind. He’s generous. He’s loving. He has integrity. It’s just not very fashionable nowadays” Curtis said.

Grateful to play such a “refreshing character,” he adds that it’s not as easy as it seems. “I think there’s a lot of work that goes into being a good guy. I think it’s actually easier to be a person who has lapses in integrity.”

6 Days!!!!

That's like....less than a week!

The two main stars, Dickens and Curtis, were reluctant to sign-on at first.

Neither Kim Dickens (who plays Madison, a single mother and guidance counsellor) nor Cliff Curtis (who plays Travis, a single dad and Madison's boyfriend) had any interest in the horror genre initially.

"I didn’t think I was really right for the genre at first because I hadn’t really done it,” said Dickens. “Then I read the script and I was like, ‘Maddy's the greatest character ever!'”

Curtis also admitted that he was skittish. “Genre things scare me. Monsters and stuff, I find them scary.”

Let's hope he's gotten over that a bit. Eating lunch with extras playing The Infected might be a bit difficult if he hasn't.

1 Week To Go!

Just a week to wait now.

Filming the series gave Kim Dickens nightmares and some bloodthirsty fantasies. Initially, Dickens found that filming the scary series impacted her psyche. “It gave me a couple nightmares in the very beginning, like my subconscious just trying to work it out.

Once she got used to it though, she started to fantasize about setting zombies onto people who annoyed her in traffic. “I was driving through L.A. the other day and someone was really rude in traffic, and I was like, 'I wish a Walker would show up and ruin his day. You think you have a problem now? Wait 'til the apocalypse!'"

Make a note everyone. Don't. Annoy. Ms. Dickens.

8 Days to Fear! Did you know that...

8 days to go and did you know that despite the fact that the main characters are all supposed to be longtime Californians, three of them come from outside the U.S. and none of them hail from California.

Cliff Curtis is from New Zealand, Frank Dillane is from the UK, and Alycia Debnam-Carey is from Australia. Kim Dickens is the only actual American, and she's from Alabama.

Despite this, they make a very believable family. “As soon as we started rehearsing together, we just had this electricity," says Dickens. "We felt like a little family of misfits brought together that sort of fit. Imperfectly perfect.

When the original Walking Dead series debuted, the stars were generally unknowns. Thanks to the show's popularity, well-known actors including Dickens, Curtis, and Rubén Blades signed on for Fear the Walking Dead. But Erickson doesn't plan to hire any more A-listers. “My old boss Kurt (Kurt Sutter on Sons of Anarchy) was very good about finding really interesting actors who may not have been getting a lot of work and finding a way to thread them into the world of Sons of Anarch

Erickson intends to use the same casting strategy and singles out a performer for special recognition. "A new character [Strand] that will arrive in the back half of the season is played by Colman…

10 Days, It's The Final Countdown - And Something You Didn't Know

10 Days!!

And...

The action scenes refer back to real-life events. One of the most memorable sequences early on in Fear the Walking Dead is a riot that erupts after a police officer shoots a man who is initially believed to be innocent. Reminiscent of the infamous 1992 Los Angeles riots, Cliff Curtis (plays Travis) found filming it a little too realistic at times. “When you see what human beings become when they’re unleashed — all the rules are gone and you can do whatever you want because there’s nothing to stop you — boy, it’s scary.

Erickson confirmed that this is deliberate “The show is not a [political piece], but ... it's definitely evocative of [those riots.]"

11 Days!!!

And...

There are apparently entire episodes without any Walkers. While the series includes big set pieces and action-heavy riots and showdowns with Walkers, the quieter scenes and the relationships between the characters play a significant role. “There’s a small scene between Kim and Frank Dillane that is simple and beautiful and moving," says Erickson (show runner). "it really speaks to their relationship — and we’ll always come back to that."

As Erickson sees it, the true test of the success of the series is how people respond to the characters and to the smaller moments. "I think if you love the characters and could go episodes and not see a zombie, but would still like the show and want to watch it? That would be the ideal. And…

Some of the cast chose not to watch the original series, The Walking Dead because they were afraid it would affect their performances. “I was going to really power through it when I heard about the audition, but then I was sort of advised not to because my character would not necessarily know what the apocalypse looks like” said Kim Dickens (Madison).

Alycia Debnam-Carey (Alicia) admitted, “I had to stop watching the original because it was starting to inform things that I was doing on set. I was starting to think, ‘But I wouldn’t know that.’ I have to be a little bit more in the dark. You can’t really undo that damage.”

Changes to the Theme

Hey guys. I thought I'd write this blog so that everyone has a chance to pitch in ideas about the theme, as I'd like to finalize it ahead of next month's premiere. Ideally we can all make sure that everyone is happy with the theme going into the show, and it won't noticeably change again until Season 2 airs (if at all).

Okay, so first up is the wordmark: We've used more or less the same one since the wiki was founded back in March; it's undergone some subtle changes, but has used the same arrangement. I've trialed various other ideas, but can honestly say that none look as good as the current one, so I'm of the opinion that it should remain the same (with the possibly exception of the color), although of course if anyone else wants to try a…

Bath Salts, and Other Mind Altering Experiences

Real life events have influenced the ideas behind the show. And no, I don't mean that Zombies are real (they're not, as far as I know)

Do you remember the bath salt incidents on May 26, 2012 in Miami?

Well no, me neither until I started reading the 'pedia article.

Kirkman seemed to be thinking about people’s reaction when they heard about it. In the beginning, word spread of a man who was found eating another man’s face and then ran at a police officer who had shoot him several times to stop him

He was actually eating the poor man's face.

So people joked about zombies, but no one really prepared for the worst. Of course not, why would they?

There aren't likely to be any Zombie jokes in FEAR, because FEAR is in a world where no one even knows the…
